About the Artist

A Heritage in creating cool brand concepts, creative direction, and custom illustration led Sam Smith to create her secret illustration studio in 2013.

The studio was founded on the idea of using pop illustration to time capsule the various elements of every day life.  Operating by word of mouth, Sam produces custom artwork, ltd edition prints, and creative concepts for private clients and brands alike, and maintains an ongoing waiting list for her bespoke Illustrated Portraits and Time Capsules of possessions such as bags and their contents, bookshelves, desks and nightstands.

Clientele spans London, New York, and Los Angeles, and includes fashion brands, fashion designers, entrepreneurs, musicians, authors, and more.

She is formally educated with a Batchelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Fashion Promotion and Illustration from The Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University for the Creative Arts, Accessory Design from Parsons, The New School, New York,.

She once, almost nearly, did a job swop with Banksy.  Her task was to paint pink hearts over London.  His was to spend her creative events budget for Diesel jeans.  Sadly, all plans were scuppered in the name of sensibility from above.  She has since learned never to trust sensibility from above and credits this philosophy with some of her greatest personal and professional achievements.

Formerly based in London, and known as Sam Newman, she now lives and works in New York as Sam Smith.
