MyHalfternoon: Sushma Sagar
Reiki Master and founder of The Calmery, London
‘As a practising reiki master, I have a daily morning dip in Lake Me with a meditation and self-healing treatment. I usually sit or lie in bed, think about my breathing, give myself a scan and send energy to anywhere that needs it. I can connect to an endless supply of energy or "chi" from the universe and literally swim with my eyes shut. It's essential that I recharge and do this daily practice in order to be a empty channel for my work.’
‘I would be Romy Schneider circa 1960 having a bed picnic with Alain Delon. In Paris...
Seriously though... a halfternoon when I was in the throws of my corporate career would have been an absolute godsend. Sadly they were just impossible, things usually picked up heavily in the afternoon I was dealing with offices in both east and west coasts of America. Anytime I felt overwhelmed, if I could, I would literally just take a quick walk. I would have no music, phone on silent and I would walk in silence outside, breathing deeply. Simply removing myself and putting one foot in front of the other, would pound the feeling away into the pavement. Just a few minutes of this would bring perspective, help problem-solve and calm me down ready to face the world again.’
